“Computer club member and programming student Aaron Lopez said organizers also hoped to generate more interest in WDTI’s already-popular programming and computer networking program.
Lopez and other club members brought their own Xbox 360 gaming systems for the event. A separate Wii Rock Band competition was also held. Other systems and games were set up for family members of competitors to use or for the competitors to play in their down time.
Money raised from the registration fees and food concessions will go toward supporting the school’s SkillsUSA competitors. SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations.”

“Though Lee isn’t sure if other universities have added the Nintendo Wii to their fitness programs, he hopes to engage students and improve student life. He hopes that making exercise convenient for students will increase participation.”

“The Campus Activities Center sponsored the tournament that featured Wii Mario & Sonic Olympic Winter Games.
Four teams were registered for the competition, but only three showed up: International Students, Indian Students and Team Body Shot. Each team had four students on it.
Teams competed in a variety of events, including curling, bob sledding, ski jumps, ice hockey and speed skating.”

The Cal Poly Engineering Student Council is celebrating National Engineers Week with several activities open to the public.
The event kicks off today with an opening ceremony with Cal Poly’s improv troupe, Smile & Nod, and a Wii tournament with free hot dogs tonight. Other events during the week include a presentation by Lockheed Martin, a boat race challenge and a Miss Engineer contest.
