“Computer club member and programming student Aaron Lopez said organizers also hoped to generate more interest in WDTI’s already-popular programming and computer networking program.

Lopez and other club members brought their own Xbox 360 gaming systems for the event. A separate Wii Rock Band competition was also held. Other systems and games were set up for family members of competitors to use or for the competitors to play in their down time.

Money raised from the registration fees and food concessions will go toward supporting the school’s SkillsUSA competitors. SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations.”
