Gamers can battle it out to the finish and at the same time show support for Lodi High School’s senior class.
On Feb. 5, the high school cafeteria will become a gaming tournament battleground in a fund-raising effort to defray prom costs.
Tickets are available for tournament entry or for general admission to the “Retro Lounge,” the new name for a day for the cafeteria in honor of the older game systems that will be available such as Super Nintendo, Genesis, Nintendo 64 and Wii Virtual Console. While the Wii may not seem so retro, it is capable of playing older games from days past.
“The kids are going to bring everything that they own, so (the Retro Lounge) will be a library type of thing,” said Fran Rozman, senior class advisor and organizer of the event.
The tournament will be held in two rounds. The first round will include three possible games: Modern Warfare 2, Super Smash Brothers and Rock Band 2. The second round will include Modern Warfare 2, Street Fighter IV and Dance Dance Revolution. The battle to the finale, depending on the level of involvement, may include pitting a winning student against a teacher. There will be prizes for the winners.
