"Today, Graham’s personal record for Wii bowling is 246, a score that’s helped her and her friends land a sweet dig in a nationwide Wii bowling tournament. Particularly, a few days ago, Graham’s team competed in the National Senior League’s inaugural Wii Bowling Tournament."

At 81 years old, Graham—a former church-league bowling champ—has, in her own way, stepped out of retirement. Her Wii bowling chops have earned her the captainship of the Langston-Brown Senior Center’s LB-1 team in Arlington, Va. Today, her team is competing in the National Senior League’s inaugural Wii bowling tournament, a nationwide contest between senior-center squads for the “National Wii Bowl” championship.

Last week, Home Instead Senior Care of Richmond sponsored a Wii Bowling Tournament at The Verena. There were prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. A fun time was had by all!!!

Verena’s residents are very serious about their Wii bowling, for sure. A bit competitive! But they all cheered each other on and it was a great event.

I just spent an hour watching 12 people over the age of 70 compete in a Wii Bowling Tournament at our local retirement community, and I think I love that idea more than anything I’ve run into in the last, say, 15 minutes.

Members of the senior centers in Blaine and Ham Lake the morning of Feb. 10 competed against each other in a Nintendo Wii bowling tournament at the Ham Lake Senior Center.

Many of the 16 senior citizens that participated had played the game before at either their senior center or at a relative’s home.

“It’s wonderful for seniors. It gets them moving and get their blood flowing,” said Rhona Marie, who attends the Blaine Senior Center, but lives in Ham Lake.

…A unique twist to this Wii tournament, that was the brainchild of Meyer, was a bowler would get a card for each strike or spare. Once they collected more than five cards, they would discard a card to keep a five-card hand. The bowlers with the best poker hands won prizes.
