Nintendo hasn’t been just formulating rules, though - the company has also been paying attention as to which characters have been popular and successful throughout the tournaments so far. Walter mentioned that Kirby, Snake, and Olimar have been doing rather well. The PR Manager also said that he didn’t expect the Ice Climbers to be as popular as they currently are.

“There is one feature that constantly has been tempting me to try out homebrew; the ability to modify existing games through unofficial downloadable content. Thus far, one game opened-up the gates to unofficial DLC: Super Smash Bros. Brawl. This overwhelming passion and desire to change-up Brawl stemmed from tournament-level players’ shocking disdain of the game itself. I personally supported the slower pace of Brawl compared to Melee, but apparently most hardcore players are not in favor of such a big change. Apparently, the pace of Brawl does not allow combo-based gameplay found in Melee. Additionally, complaints such as random tripping and an unbalanced character roster have been echoed throughout the tournament community.

As a result, gamers have made different interpretations of a better and more balanced Brawl. “EX Brawl”, “Balanced Brawl” and “Heavy Brawl” are examples of packs that significantly change gameplay. Some desire to liken the physics and pace to Melee, while others tempt to play around with gravity physics in order to balance out controls.”

I had the greatest social Nintendo experience in college when I was exposed to Super Smash Bros. Shit you not, it was insane. We were terribly cruel to each other. I had a fraternity brother who would grab you with Donkey Kong and walk off the edge of some perilous cliff, killing both you and him. It was totally gonzo, and he didn’t even care. He’d laugh. This one’s for you, Derrick.

What is Luigi doing?

Never mind that. Ness looks like he’s being crushed in a jam pile.
